Mayflower has developed a low cost prototype base station based on the UMTS-TDD specifications. The Mayflower base station prototype incorporates MIMO algorithms for high data rates, spectrum efficiency, and link stability. Mayflower’s digital Anti-Jam algorithms provide the base station immunity from interference. A special feature of the base station is advanced signal processing that allows it to receive very high speed mobiles (mobile speeds of the order of hundreds of kmph) with high reliability. The fidelity of reception from high speed mobiles is so high, in fact, that it can support high-QoS data service.
The following are the salient characteristics of the Mayflower UMTS-TDD based wireless datalink base station prototype:
- Up to 25 users
- Flexible superheterodyne design with 1st Intermediate Frequency (IF) at the industry-standard 70 MHz, and flexible choice of over-the-air RF frequency per spec
- Multi Input Multi Output (MIMO) enhancements for peak data rates of 20 Mbps in a 5 MHz RF channel
- Digital Anti-Jam
- Reliable reception at supersonic mobile velocities
